About the Program
The ATP Certification Training Program is required by the FAA before you can take the ATP multi-engine knowledge test — the exam standing between you and an Airline Transport Pilot certificate. It exists to prepare experienced pilots for the realities of transport-category flying before they ever set foot in an airline training department.
At AVS, the program runs as an intensive 6–7 day course: 30 hours of ground instruction covering high-altitude aerodynamics, adverse weather, stall prevention and upset recovery, transport-category systems, turbine operations, and airline-oriented procedures — followed by 10 hours of structured simulator training that replicates real operational scenarios in an airline-style environment.
Virtual ground school is available, and the full program is offered at both our Dallas, TX headquarters and our Miami, FL location at Opa-Locka Executive Airport — the same instructors, curriculum, and boutique service on both coasts.

Common Questions
Who needs an ATP CTP course?
Any pilot pursuing an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with multi-engine privileges — the path to flying for a Part 121 airline. The FAA requires you to complete an approved ATP CTP program before you're eligible to take the ATP multi-engine knowledge test.
How long does the program take?
Six to seven days, depending on the class schedule. The program combines 30 hours of ground school with 10 hours of simulator training, and virtual ground school options are available to fit your schedule.
How much does ATP CTP cost at AVS?
Promotional pricing starts at $3,499 — or $2,999 each when you enroll with a friend. Bring more pilots and every extra friend takes another $50 off your own seat: $2,949 with two friends, $2,899 with three, $2,849 with four — while everyone you bring still gets the $2,999 rate. A $999 deposit reserves each seat, with the balance due before class start. Seats are limited at both locations, so reserve early.
Where is the course offered?
At our Dallas–Fort Worth headquarters (4649 Diplomacy Rd, Fort Worth, TX) and our Miami location at Opa-Locka Executive Airport (14850 NW 44th Court, Suite 206). You'll get the same curriculum and instructors at either campus.
