How the Course Runs

  1. 1

    Briefing — 1 Hour

A focused review of the training profile: the 61.57 requirements you're restoring, procedures, approaches, and what the session will cover.

  2. 2

    Full-Flight Simulator — 2 Hours

Night Landings: three night takeoffs and three full-stop night landings with visual approaches. Recency of Experience: six night takeoffs and landings plus six instrument approaches (ILS, RNAV, LOC, VOR), holding, and engine-out work.

  3. 3

    Currency Logged

Everything is flown to ACS standards and documented in your training record — legal to carry passengers again the same day.

About the Program

FAR 61.57 currency has a way of expiring at the worst time — between contracts, after a desk assignment, or mid-winter when night landings are hard to come by. Instead of chasing currency in an airplane, restore it in the B737-800 full-flight simulator in a single two-hour session.

Choose the course that matches what's lapsed. The 90-Day Night Landings course restores day and night takeoff-and-landing currency with three night takeoffs and three full-stop landings. The Recency of Experience course goes further: six night takeoffs and landings plus six instrument approaches, holding, and course intercepting and tracking — restoring instrument currency and covering the instrument proficiency check requirement as well.

There's no checkride — an instructor conducts the session, everything is flown to ACS standards, and your currency is documented on completion. At $699 per pilot paired, it's an easy add-on for crews already training with us, or a fast standalone fix.

What to Expect

01

One Session, Current Again

A one-hour briefing and a two-hour full-flight simulator session — schedule it in a morning and fly legal that afternoon.

02

Two Courses to Fit the Lapse

Night takeoff-and-landing currency, or the full recency package with six approaches, holding, and instrument proficiency coverage.

03

No Checkride Pressure

This is training, not a check — an instructor flies the session with you and documents everything to ACS standards.

04

Real Weather, On Demand

The simulator serves up night, three-mile visibility, and engine-out scenarios on schedule — no waiting for conditions.

Common Questions

Which currency course do I need?

If only your 90-day takeoff-and-landing currency has lapsed, the Night Landings course covers it. If your instrument currency has lapsed too — or you need the instrument proficiency check — the Recency of Experience course restores everything in one session. Both are $699 per pilot paired.

Can I log this in a simulator?

Yes — FAR 61.57 specifically allows recency to be reestablished in a qualified full flight simulator at a Part 142 training center, which is exactly what this is.

Is there a checkride?

No. These are training courses with no proficiency check — the session is conducted by an instructor, flown to ACS standards, and documented in your training record on completion.

What do I need to enroll?

A certificate with AMEL, an instrument rating, and a B737 type rating. Recent 737 proficiency checks are recommended so the course also satisfies you fully — call us and we'll confirm what your record needs.
